Hadleigh High School is seeking to appoint a Safeguarding Officer to lead and coordinate the operational delivery of safeguarding and child protection across the school, ensuring that all students are safe, supported and able to achieve their full potential.
The Safeguarding Manager will work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSLs), pastoral teams, attendance staff and external agencies to provide high-quality safeguarding support, promote student welfare and ensure compliance with statutory safeguarding requirements.
You will act as a DDSL and play a key role in developing a culture where safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
This is not an exhaustive list and you will be expected to show flexibility and assist with other tasks of a similar nature.
You will:
- Support the DSL in implementing the school's safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures
- Act as a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, sharing responsibility for safeguarding and child protection across the school
- Receive, assess and respond to safeguarding concerns in line with statutory guidance, local safeguarding procedures and school policy
- Ensure that safeguarding concerns are appropriately risk assessed, recorded and progressed
- Support students who are subject to safeguarding plans or other safeguarding interventions
- Contribute to the development, implementation and review of risk assessments and safeguarding plans for vulnerable students
- Monitor safeguarding trends, identify emerging risks and contribute to preventative safeguarding strategies.

Hadleigh High School is a vibrant, student-focussed 11 – 16 secondary school rated “Good” by Ofsted in October 2024. We foster a strong community and have great pride in our students and their achievements. Our examination results continue to improve year on year, but we still have ambitious plans for the future.
