About the Role

We are looking for a motivated trustee with experience in safeguarding to join the Board of Children of Rwanda UK. You will help us monitor the current safeguarding strategy and maintain the safeguarding capacity within our team in Rwanda.

As a Trustee with safeguarding experience, you will help ensure that Children of Rwanda operates safely and responsibly, protecting our beneficiary community. Your insight will be critical to strengthening our safeguarding strategy and to giving our team in Rwanda the confidence and skills to uphold it.

What Are We Looking For?

We are looking for a motivated and experienced safeguarding professional who can help monitor and strengthen our safeguarding strategy, and support the ongoing training of our team in Rwanda.

  • Experience in safeguarding policy and training
  • Willingness to work with our team in Rwanda to help embed safe practices across our operations
  • Active role on the Board, providing leadership and direction across the charity's activities
  • Compliance with the expectations and laws set by the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR)

What Will You Be Doing?

In your role as Trustee, you will play a key role in ensuring Children of Rwanda operates safely and responsibly within the communities we serve. We already have a safeguarding strategy in place, and our team in Rwanda have undergone training in this area. However, we are missing someone with safeguarding experience on the Board to help us continue building capacity within our team in Rwanda and to monitor the ongoing implementation of the strategy.

What Would You Be Doing?

  • Help monitor our safeguarding strategy
  • Support with ongoing staff training in Rwanda
  • Ensure the charity's operations remain safe and responsible as we grow
  • Be part of the Finance and Risk Subcommittee, working closely with other trustees and management

As the Safeguarding Trustee for Children of Rwanda UK, you would also be part of the Finance and Risk Subcommittee, working closely with other trustees and management.
