The Role
As we scale our UK sportsbook and casino, we’re hiring a Safer Gambling Manager based near Leeds to own our safer gambling function end to end, reporting to our Compliance Manager. This is an all-encompassing role: you’ll set the strategy for player protection, lead the team handling customer interactions and interventions, and make sure we remain fully compliant with UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) requirements as the business grows.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who thrives on responsibility, cares deeply about customer wellbeing, and wants to build a function within a fast-paced startup.
About Stakemate
Founded in summer 2022, Stakemate is revolutionising sports betting by putting social features and seamless interfaces at the forefront. We’re a profitable startup that’s grown over 15x in the last year, and we’re just getting started.
Recognized by EGR as one of the most innovative startups in gaming, we’re scaling fast and shaping the next generation of sports entertainment. We have built a product that users genuinely love, with unlimited betting group chats, multi-game bet builders, and an experience designed for how people actually want to bet: together.
Revolut disrupted Barclays, Robinhood disrupted Etrade, Stakemate is executing in the same way to take on the traditional gaming sector.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
