About the Role
To work as part of the Contracts and Compliance Team to provide effective monitoring and contract management of essential health & safety compliance specialising in fire risk assessments and legionella control whilst providing an effective customer focused service. Carry out general surveying duties such as visiting tenanted and empty properties.
Pay range and compensation package
Salary - £45,000 per annum, rising to £47,000 following successful completion of a six-month probationary period. A further £1,000 annual increment will be awarded for up to three years, subject to satisfactory performance, reaching a maximum salary of £50,000 per annum.
Key Responsibilities
- To ensure customer contact is achieved within set timescales, including taking telephone calls and responding to e-mails/letters
- Attend all FRA assessments with Contractor
- Help to maintain an effective fire risk monitoring spreadsheet
- Ensure fire remedial work is issued to contractors and that the work is prioritised and tracked until completion
- Ensure ‘Big 6’ areas of compliance are in full compliance
- Help to manage all areas of ‘Big 6’ and any associated works, contractor management.
- Ensure any outstanding compliance works and remedial is issued to contractors and that the work is prioritised and tracked until completion
- Deal with day to day Planned works enquiries as required
- To participate in customer engagement and feedback with a view to continuous improvement
- To liaise with other departments/staff/outside agencies as appropriate

Qualifications
- A good standard of education
- NEBOSH or IOSH qualified (Desirable)
- In depth knowledge and understanding of Building safety and fire safety or qualification (RICS,CIOB)
Required Skills
- Sound technical knowledge of health and safety regulations (Building and fire safety), governance and compliance
- Knowledge of building maintenance risks and compliance issues
- Ability to work co-operatively with others to complete tasks and implement process improvements
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills
- Strong IT skills – Microsoft Office
- Good administrative and organisational skills

Preferred Skills
- Demonstrable experience of working in a fire safety and compliance surveying role at the appropriate level
- Demonstrable experience of interpreting legislative and best practice requirements to implement, monitor and review for continuous improvement, a Health and Safety Management System.
- Experience of coordinating surveys for ‘Big 6’ for compliance purposes
- Demonstrated experience in carrying out risk assessments, investigating accidents, and interpreting Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs), including categorising and prioritising the actions arising from them
- Experience of gathering, analysing the implications for the business and reporting on key H&S data/statistics
Additional Information
- This role requires the post holder to hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle
- This role does, on occasion, require the post holder to work evenings and weekends.
- Wednesday is the core office day, and attendance in the office is required on this day.
