This is far more than a traditional security role. As part of a close-knit and highly respected team, you will combine proactive campus safety responsibilities with frontline welfare and pastoral support, helping students during challenging situations and contributing positively to campus life. No two shifts are the same, and you will have the opportunity to make a genuine difference to the wellbeing and safety of our university communities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities

- Responding to incidents, alarms, emergencies and welfare concerns
- Providing compassionate support to students experiencing wellbeing or mental health difficulties
- Assisting with building evacuations, first aid incidents and emergency response procedures
- Monitoring and operating security systems including CCTV, SafeZone and access control systems
- Supporting with car parking enforcement and traffic management
- Assisting students and staff with access issues, lost keys and out-of-hours support requests
About You
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a people-focused environment where professionalism, empathy and teamwork are highly valued. The role offers the chance to work within a supportive team culture while developing valuable experience in campus safety, welfare support, conflict management and emergency response.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
