Safety Consultant – Defence & National Security
Location: UK wide / Hybrid
Security Clearance: SC eligible minimum
Bristol Office - Hybrid, Some travelling (client sites)

We are seeking Safety Consultants at multiple levels to support high-profile Defence and National Security programmes. This is an opportunity to provide expert system safety advice across complex, safety-critical environments working with MOD, DE&S, prime contractors, and Defence partners.
You will deliver through-life safety support across the project lifecycle, including:
- Hazard identification and analysis (HAZID, FHA, FTA)
- Risk assessment and ALARP justification
- Hazard management and safety assurance
- Safety case development and review
- Technical documentation and assurance evidence
- Participation in safety reviews, working groups, and assurance boards

Depending on experience, you may also mentor junior consultants and contribute to bids and customer engagements.
What we’re looking for
Essential
- Engineering qualification (Level 4 or above)
- Experience in system safety engineering within Defence, aerospace, nuclear, transport, or another high-integrity industry
- Strong understanding of hazard analysis, risk management, safety cases, and safety assurance
- Knowledge of UK safety legislation, standards, and regulatory frameworks
- Excellent stakeholder communication skills
- Eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC minimum)

Desirable
- MOD / DE&S programme experience
- Consultancy background
- Front Line Command (Air, Land, or Maritime) experience
- Knowledge of software safety, reliability, human factors, environmental safety, or cyber safety
- Working towards IEng registration
