We are recruiting a Safety, Health & Wellbeing (SHW) Manager to join us here at Octavius.
As a leading civil engineering organisation, we deliver safe, sustainable, and efficient transport solutions across the UK.
In this pivotal role, you'll drive our commitment to creating safe, healthy, and supportive environments for our people.
This hybrid role can be based at any of our UK offices, with regular travel to operational sites and offices nationwide. Flexibility is key, as you'll be supporting teams wherever they are based, ensuring our SHW standards are consistently upheld.
You'll be working on…
- Championing a culture where safety, health, and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do.
- Leading and inspiring SHW Advisors and operational teams to deliver best-in-class standards across our projects.
- Providing expert guidance, coaching, and assurance to ensure legal compliance and continuous improvement.
- Driving innovation in SHW, from incident investigations to proactive campaigns and industry engagement.
- Collaborating with colleagues and partners to embed SHW priorities into every aspect of our work.
- Representing Octavius at industry forums and with key stakeholders.

You'll work with…
A team of highly motivated, dedicated professionals delivering projects across a variety of frameworks, with clients such as National Highways and Network Rail.

You'll bring…
- Significant experience in SHW management within civil engineering, rail, or highways infrastructure, including leading teams across multiple sites.
- A proven track record of delivering compliance, managing investigations, and driving improvement in SHW performance.
- Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, industry best practice, and the challenges of major infrastructure projects.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and coaching skills, with the ability to build trust and influence at all levels.
- Commercial awareness and experience managing budgets and change.

Qualifications
- NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ Level 6 (or equivalent), plus Environmental Management experience and Investigation Training.
- Relevant CSCS Card, and a full UK driving licence.
- Auditor Training and IEMA Qualification (desirable).
- Proficient in Excel and Word.
