Location: Brighton - Moulsecoomb
Salary: £41,064 to £48,822 per annum

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Health and Safety Adviser to join our Health and Safety team.

This is a key role supporting the delivery of health and safety across the University. Working closely with academic and professional service leaders, managers, and other stakeholders, you will help ensure compliance, support the implementation of health and safety policies and procedures, and promote a positive health and safety culture.

About The Role

You will act as a lead Health and Safety Adviser for designated areas of the University, providing expert advice and practical support on a wide range of health and safety matters.

  • Developing and delivering health and safety training
  • Undertaking audits, inspections, and accident investigations
  • Supporting the development of policies and guidance
  • Assisting managers in meeting their health and safety responsibilities

You will also support the University's Risk Management Framework by helping managers identify, assess, and monitor risks, maintain risk registers, and contribute to risk reporting and assurance activities.

About You

You will have substantial experience of delivering a health and safety advisory service within a complex organisation, together with a strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice.

  • Holding a NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Being a Chartered or Certified Member of IOSH, or willing to work towards membership

You will be an effective communicator with the ability to influence and work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders, translating complex information into practical and accessible advice.

You will have experience of developing and delivering training, conducting audits and inspections, writing policies and guidance, and supporting managers to achieve continual improvement in health and safety performance.
