What you’ll be doing:
- Acting as the most senior deck officer after the Staff Captain
- Investigating all major and serious accidents and incidents
- Managing a small team of Deck Crew, leading the day-to-day planned maintenance of safety and emergency equipment
- Maintaining oversight of the shipboard emergency response organisation
- Ensuring all key emergency response positions are covered by suitably trained and certificated personnel
- Remaining fully competent as a watch-keeping Officer
- Supplementing the Bridge watch and taking ‘the charge’ as needed
What we’re looking for:
- A professional and calm leader, especially under pressure
- Someone who leads by example and actively promotes a strong safety culture
- A leader who puts health and safety at the heart of all planning and decision-making
To join us as Safety Officer, you’ll need:
- A Master’s Unlimited (II/2) certificate with no limitations
- Experience in rank as Safety Officer
- Strong technical understanding of cruise ship operations
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety rules and regulations
- Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
Experience on board a cruise ship is essential.
