Technical Safety & Technical Assurance Manager – Fast‑Jet Operations (Speculative)

£80,000 – £85,000 + benefits

Context – Speculative Search

  • Working with a major fast‑jet training programme at RAF Valley
  • Client is open to strong profiles, even though this is not a fixed live vacancy
  • Role scope can be shaped around the right candidate
  • Aim: build a pipeline and move quickly when there is a strong match

Role Overview

  • Act as technical safety and assurance lead for fast‑jet operations
  • Work closely with engineering teams and senior military stakeholders
  • Provide independent, evidence‑based advice on operational decisions

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver technical safety and assurance across fast‑jet training and operations
  • Review and challenge:
    • Engineering decisions
    • Risk assessments
    • Safety cases and supporting documentation
  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Civil aviation regulations
    • Military aviation regulations
    • Internal safety and engineering standards
  • Present clear recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Operate as a key interface between:
    • Engineering
    • Safety
    • Front‑line flying operations

Ideal Candidate Profile

Background in aerospace / aeronautical engineering

Ideally:

  • Ex‑military OR
  • Significant military aviation / defence aerospace experience

Exposure to:

  • Airworthiness
  • Technical assurance
  • Engineering management
  • Civil and Military aviation regulation

Platform experience:

  • Fast‑jet strongly preferred
  • Helicopter or relevant civilian aerospace considered

Personal attributes:

  • Confident and credible with senior officers
  • Comfortable challenging decisions using data and evidence
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
