Transport Admin Clerk - Grocery Sector

We are looking for a Transport Admin Clerk to join our Grocery Sector based at our site in Charlton, London. This challenging and exciting role will appeal to individuals with experience, drive, determination, and enthusiasm. The role will be working permanent Nights, working any 5 shifts from 7 on a rota pattern (including weekends).

How will you contribute?

  • To administer the movement of vehicles (and associated activity) received and despatched from the site in a timely, safe, and accurate standard, in line with the agreed service strategy to the JS store network;
  • To undertake all activities in line with the KPI requirements/service agreements for that area;
  • To help develop a culture of continuous improvement to drive best-in-class activity and operational excellence;
  • To be accountable for personal Health and Safety practices;
  • To ensure that Wincanton Health and Safety policy and procedures are followed at all times;
  • To ensure that any customer-specific health and safety requirements are followed where appropriate;
  • To assist, in conjunction with the Health and Safety Manager in resolving appropriate problems relating to health and safety and welfare matters;
  • To help ensure appropriate action is taken to remove/reduce any significant risks or hazards identified;
  • To raise any areas of opportunity for improvement, or concern regarding the working environment;
  • To carry out the required administration in line with the agreed Company/Client procedure to maintain the movement of vehicles and drivers entering and exiting the site;
  • To assist in administering the service, integrity, and accuracy of the WMS/transport IT systems (Microlise, C3 Yard, Tachomaster) All other systems used;
  • To maintain accurate records management;
  • To work in accordance with agreed targets set by the Company and customer with regard to productivity, performance, accuracy, timekeeping, and attendance;
  • To help work in a culture of continuous improvement to drive best-in-class activity and operational excellence, in line with PCDR objectives;
  • To escalate appropriate issues in line with agreed procedures to Managers;
  • To work as trained and in accordance with Company procedure with regard to all tasks undertaken within role;

What will you bring?

The Person

  • Previous experience working in an office environment;
  • Previous experience using Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel;
  • Previous Transport experience would be preferred but not essential;
  • An understanding of Drivers Working Time Directive and EU Regulations is desirable but not essential;
  • Strong administration skills including attention to detail, timeliness, and accuracy;
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines;
  • Must have a flexible approach to working hours;
  • Self-motivated with a ‘can do’ approach;
  • Good team player who can work on their own initiative;
  • Someone looking to progress and develop within the department and the company;
  • Good communicator at all levels;
