Ashbourne Medical Practice seeks to appoint an experienced or newly qualified GP on a salaried basis. This is a new post as we look to increase our clinical workforce. We are a traditional GP Practice that focuses on patient centred care with an emphasis on practicing safe and high-quality medicine. Our aim is to provide easy access for patients and to maximise the use of additional services through effective signposting, whilst embracing technological innovation that helps make us work smarter. Our duty days are well managed, and we work hard to provide good appointment availability that helps keep routine waits down.
We have low home visit rates, and we have a robust and streamlined administration system which filters out unnecessary admin. A good work-life balance is an essential part of what makes our practice successful. We are a friendly, flexible, family orientated team which looks to embrace the challenges facing primary care and the NHS. We would like a motivated GP who values a team approach and good patient care.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
