Salaried GP | Dereham

Background

New starters here are given room to settle in. There’s no personal patient list, no duty doctor rota to join immediately, and a two-week structured induction that can be extended for as long as you need. It’s a practice that invests in getting your first months right, and GPs placed here by Menlo Park have gone on to build long careers with the team.

Location

The practice is based in Dereham, a market town in the heart of Norfolk. Norwich is around thirty minutes away by car, with Swaffham roughly twenty minutes and King’s Lynn around forty minutes, giving a good range of options for a wider commute.

The Practice

Mid-sized practice with a strong partnership team and a large salaried GP team, supported by advanced nurse practitioners, clinical pharmacists and a wider nursing and admin team.

  • Built in peer support, with a daily clinical catch up, fortnightly clinical governance meetings and a monthly GP meeting.
  • Home visits shared across GPs, nurse practitioners and a dedicated visiting nurse, with a weekly Partner led care home round.
  • CQC rated Good across every domain.

Your Role

  • 6 sessions across three working days: Monday and Tuesday, plus Wednesday or Friday.
  • No personal patient list. All appointments are triaged and allocated by a duty desk practitioner, keeping the working day predictable.
  • No extended hours or access requirements, as this sits with the Partners.
  • New starters are not expected to take on duty doctor responsibilities straight away, running normal clinics only until ready.
  • A structured two-week induction as standard, extendable further if needed.
  • Scope to bring or develop a specialist interest, including minor surgery, joint injections, spirometry, women’s health or sexual health.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
