Salaried GP | Oswestry
Background
This is a rare chance to join a practice that has deliberately stepped back from total triage and duty doctor systems, protecting salaried GPs from the volume of e-consult work many peers now face. Sessions are built around continuity and manageable clinical contacts rather than a constant digital inbox. With a supportive, close-knit team and genuine flexibility over how your day is structured, this is general practice run the way many GPs wish it still was.
Location
The practice is based in Oswestry, Shropshire, a market town close to the Welsh border with good road links via the A5 and A483. Shrewsbury is around 25 minutes away by car, with Wrexham and Whitchurch both within about 30 minutes, giving a good range of commuting options and local amenities.
The Practice
- GP Training Practice, hosting GP registrars, medical students and nursing students throughout the year
- No duty doctor system and no total triage, with clinical workload shared fairly across the whole team
- Mid-sized practice with a strong partnership team and salaried GP team, working from a single pooled patient list
- Continuity of care valued alongside flexible, modern ways of working, including GP home visits where clinically appropriate
- Long-serving, close-knit staff group with low turnover
- Purpose-built, single-site premises in a central, well-served location
- Rated Good overall by the Care Quality Commission (CQC)

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
