A unique opportunity to be part of a new model of care
NHS Highland is seeking enthusiastic and motivated General Practitioners to join our new GP Walk-In Centre service. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative model of care designed to improve access to same-day healthcare while supporting the resilience and sustainability of primary care services.
The Walk-In Centre will provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment for patients presenting with urgent same day conditions within the clinical scope of the service, delivering timely access to care and helping patients receive the right care, in the right place, at the right time.
We are looking for GPs who are passionate about patient-centred care, enjoy managing a wider range of acute presentations, and wish to contribute to the development or a modern, multidisciplinary service. Whether you are newly qualified, an experienced GP seeking a portfolio career, or looking for greater flexibility in your working pattern, we would be delighted to hear from you.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The service will operate within a supportive multidisciplinary environment in a co-located site alongside wider NHS Highland services. You will work closely with the local GP practice(s) and the wider urgent care system, helping to create an integrated and responsive service for patients.
A typical clinical session will focus on same-day presentations and undifferentiated urgent care, providing variety, professional challenge and the opportunity to utilise the breadth of your general practice skills.
The Walk-In Centre is located within easy reach of Inverness, the capital of the Highlands, offering an exceptional quality of life. From stunning coastlines and mountains to vibrant communities and excellent outdoor recreation opportunities, the Highlands provide an outstanding place to live, work and raise a family.
