Background
This is a genuine opportunity to help shape training at a growing practice on the southern edge of the Peak District. Candidates will typically know this as a GP Trainer post, though its formal title is Educational Supervisor, and whoever takes it on will have a real say in how the training offer develops. If you already hold Educational Supervisor status, or you’re an experienced GP keen to work towards it, this is worth a closer look.
Location
The practice is based in West Derbyshire, on the southern edge of the Peak District, and is commutable from places such as Derby, Uttoxeter and Stoke-on-Trent. The area combines national park scenery, excellent schools and strong transport links, and is popular with GPs looking to combine professional opportunity with an excellent quality of life.
The Practice
- GP Training Practice, with an active and growing training programme
- Well-established, values-led practice with strong admin, operational and governance support
- Modern, structured systems supporting safe care and realistic workload management
- Collaborative multidisciplinary team including ANPs, nurses, pharmacists and ARRS colleagues, with genuine opportunities for peer support and development

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
