Sales / Account Manager – Specialty Chemicals
UK Home based with 50% Travel
Are you a highly motivated sales professional who thrives in front of the customer? We’re working with a global leader in specialty chemicals and advanced materials that is looking for a commercially driven Sales / Account Manager / Business Development Manager to grow its presence across the UK.
This is a hunter-focused sales role for someone who enjoys identifying opportunities, opening new accounts, developing relationships and converting technical challenges into commercial solutions. You’ll be responsible for driving revenue, margin and market growth by selling specialty chemical and advanced material solutions into a broad range of industrial markets.
Target sectors may include high-temperature materials, refractories, technical ceramics, foundry, electronics, coatings, composites, construction, industrial manufacturing, and other technically demanding applications.
You do not need to come from one specific industry. What matters is your track record of selling specialty chemicals, materials, or technical products into industrial customers, your ability to understand applications, and your appetite for growing profitable business.
What you’ll be doing
- Own and deliver sales, revenue, and margin targets across the UK.
- Proactively identify, prospect, and develop new and existing customer opportunities across industrial markets.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified prospects and opportunities.
- Develop new accounts from initial prospecting through to first order and long-term commercial relationship.
- Grow existing accounts through cross-selling, up-selling, and increased product penetration.
- Develop strong relationships with technical, procurement, commercial, and senior stakeholders.
- Understand customer applications, processes, and technical challenges and identify the right specialty chemical or material solution.
- Introduce new products, technologies, and solutions into customer formulations and processes.
- Manage the sales process from initial contact and technical enquiry through sampling, trials, qualification, and successful commercialisation.
- Work closely with product managers, technical specialists, and global supply partners to develop customer-specific solutions.
- Negotiate commercially to maximise revenue, margin, and long-term account value.
- Monitor competitors, market developments, and emerging technologies to identify new opportunities.
- Take ownership of your territory, sales pipeline, and commercial performance.
- Travel regularly across the UK — approximately 50%.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
