Sales Account Manager - IT Managed Services
Location: Hybrid out of Manchester
Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 DOE + Commission
Focus: New Business: Managed IT Services & IT Solutions
The Opportunity
We’re working with a growing Managed IT Services provider looking for an experienced Account Manager to help drive the next stage of its growth across the UK and European market.
This is a new-business-focused sales role for someone who understands the IT services market and knows how to build relationships, create opportunities and turn conversations into long-term customers.
You’ll be provided with new business leads and opportunities generated internally, while also being expected to proactively develop your own pipeline through your existing network, referrals, LinkedIn, events, partnerships and outbound activity.
This opportunity will suit an experienced, commercially minded salesperson who wants the autonomy to take ownership of their market, pipeline and number.
You’ll have the backing of experienced Directors alongside strong technical and service delivery teams, without being heavily managed or micromanaged.
The Business
Our client is an established technology business delivering IT solutions and managed services to organisations across the UK and internationally.
Their capabilities include:
- Managed IT Services
- IT Support & Service Desk
- Cyber Security
- Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure
- Networking & Infrastructure
- Disaster Recovery
- Hardware & Software Solutions
- Managed Print
- IT Lifecycle & Maintenance Services
They work with organisations ranging from SMEs through to enterprise customers, providing a broad technology proposition rather than restricting salespeople to a single product or service.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your primary responsibility will be winning new customers and developing recurring managed-service revenue.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
You’ll take ownership of the full sales lifecycle, including:
- Managing and converting internally generated opportunities
- Proactively self-generating new business
- Leveraging your existing IT market network
- Developing prospects through referrals, LinkedIn, events, networking and outbound activity
- Building relationships with IT Managers, IT Directors, CTOs, CIOs and senior decision-makers
- Understanding customers’ IT environments, challenges and future requirements
- Positioning Managed Services and wider IT solutions
- Working alongside technical teams to develop appropriate solutions
- Producing proposals and progressing opportunities through to close
- Negotiating commercial agreements and managed-service contracts
- Developing long-term relationships with customers once won
- Identifying opportunities to expand accounts across additional services
- Maintaining a healthy and realistic sales pipeline
You’ll have access to experienced leadership and technical teams for support around more complex solutions, but ultimately you will own your number, pipeline and market.
Who We’re Looking For

- Managed IT Services / MSP contracts

- Professional IT Services
Previous experience selling recurring Managed Services contracts would be particularly valuable, alongside an existing network within the IT market.
The Type of Person Who Will Succeed
This isn't a heavily managed corporate sales environment. The leadership team wants to support, advise and help you win business – not manage your diary.
You’ll therefore need to be:
- Autonomous – comfortable managing your own activity and priorities
- Proactive – able to create your own opportunities alongside internally generated leads
- Commercial – capable of uncovering genuine business requirements and developing commercially viable solutions
- Experienced – with a good understanding of how customers buy technology and Managed Services
- Credible – comfortable engaging senior IT and business leaders
- Relationship-driven – understanding that the best MSP customers are long-term partnerships rather than transactional wins
- Career-focused – looking for somewhere you can build a meaningful book of business over the longer term
