Position Summary:

The Sales Account Manager is responsible for the management of commercial relationships with existing clients, making proactive contact and maintaining a high level of service delivery, while identifying further new business opportunities at existing and new clients. The position holder meets clients face to face:

  • To maintain and grow sales in line with agreed commercial targets.
  • Identify customer needs, opportunities, and market trends and turn these into profitable sales.
  • Seek out new customers and sales opportunities, initiate action plans to approach and secure new business for the company.

Key Accountabilities & Duties:

  • To meet / exceed budgeted Volume, Revenue and MOP.
  • Monitor and report on competitor activity, market trends, threats, etc.
  • Identify opportunities for company growth.
  • Provide timely updates to the forecast.
  • Complete visit reports on time and in full for all customer visits and key phone conferences.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets.
  • Attend conferences and trade shows as required.
  • Manage via the appropriate frequency of visits the needs of all customers and potential customers.

Ideal Competencies Required for the Role:

  • Graduate in a technical discipline – must be able to understand the products, processing methods, and end uses.
  • Self-motivated and able to work in the field with limited supervision and as part of a team.
  • Experience in technical, B2B sales.
  • Good problem-solving, communication, IT, and relationship building / personnel skills – internal and external.
  • High level of literacy and numeracy ability.
