I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Role & Requirements
Sitting right at the centre of the business, you'll provide high-level administrative and operational support to the sales team and Directors, capturing actions from email, phone, WhatsApp and meetings, processing and coordinating customer orders, maintaining accurate records, and building and updating Excel spreadsheets, trackers and reports. Requests come in from every direction, so you'll need to be exceptional at prioritising, staying accurate under pressure and driving tasks through to completion rather than waiting to be chased. To be considered you'll have strong administrative experience in a busy commercial environment (or be a strong graduate with some solid work experience behind you), a high level of Excel and Microsoft 365 competence, excellent organisation and attention to detail, and the confidence to work independently and take ownership. Any exposure to a sales, commercial or foodservice/FMCG environment is a bonus.
