Jewson is a leading supplier of timber, building materials, and related services, with branches across the UK from the Scottish Isles to Penzance. Since opening its first branch in 1836, Jewson has grown to support all trades with a wide range of products, including building materials, roofing, landscaping supplies, and specialist equipment. The business also offers kitchen and bathroom showrooms nationwide, along with a trusted Tool Hire service. Now part of STARK Building Materials UK, Jewson focuses on providing great service, expert advice, and high-quality materials to customers across the country.

Role Description

The Sales Advisor role at Jewson in Busby is a full-time, on-site position focused on supporting customers in selecting the right products and services for their projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

The Sales Advisor will also support the promotion of Jewson’s additional services, such as Tool Hire and kitchen and bathroom showrooms, while delivering a consistent, high-quality customer experience.

Qualifications

  • Strong Customer Service and Interpersonal Skills, with the ability to build positive, professional relationships with a wide range of customers.
  • Effective Communication skills, including clear verbal communication and active listening to understand customer needs.
  • Demonstrated Sales skills, with experience in advising customers, identifying opportunities, and supporting branch sales goals.
  • Ability to provide Training or guidance to customers or colleagues on product features, safe use of materials, or branch processes.
  • Basic knowledge of building materials, timber, or construction-related products (or willingness to learn quickly).
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, trade-focused environment, including handling multiple customer requests and tasks at once.
  • Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and basic IT tools for processing orders and checking stock.
  • Previous experience in retail, trade counters, or builders’ merchant environments is beneficial but not essential.
  • Commitment to health and safety standards and safe handling of materials and equipment.
