Company Description

Rapid Fluidics Ltd, founded in 2020, provides design and rapid-prototyping consultancy services for customers developing microfluidic systems. Rapid Fluidics works closely with customers to translate processes into viable products, supporting stages from user requirements and prototype instrumentation to design for mass production and selection of manufacturing partners. The team combines expertise in human factors, cost of goods, and regulatory standards to help clients develop commercially and technically robust microfluidic solutions.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based in Gateshead for a Sales and Applications Engineer. The role involves engaging with prospective and existing customers to understand their technical and commercial needs, presenting Rapid Fluidics’ microfluidic solutions, and preparing proposals and quotations.

The Sales and Applications Engineer will provide technical support, including troubleshooting, application guidance, and integration advice for microfluidic test cards and related systems. Daily responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with engineering teams to refine customer solutions
  • Conducting product demonstrations and training
  • Contributing to documentation and application notes
  • Gathering feedback to inform product and service improvements

The role also includes maintaining accurate records in sales and support systems and representing the company at relevant industry events as needed.

Qualifications

  • Strong Sales Engineering and Sales skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear commercial value.
  • Experience providing Technical Support for engineering or scientific products, including troubleshooting and customer training.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience in engineering, physics, or a related technical discipline to give an understanding of product design, prototyping, and manufacturing considerations.
  • Comfort working closely with customers in laboratory, industrial, or R&D environments, ideally within microfluidics, medical devices, or instrumentation.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Organized, self-directed working style with a focus on problem-solving, attention to detail, and meeting project and sales timelines.

Experience

Essential:

  • 2-3 years experience in a customer-facing B2B sales environment

Ideal:

  • Technical background in mechanical or biomedical engineering, biochemistry
  • Sales and account management
  • Experience using a CRM (Hubspot)
