Salary: £25,000 - £28,000 (DoE) + Commission

Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time

As our Sales Development Representative, you'll be one of the first and most important touchpoints in the customer journey.

You'll spend your time engaging with prospective and existing clients, qualifying opportunities, responding to enquiries and helping our sales team connect with the right people at the right time.

You'll also play a key role in customer retention and renewals, giving you exposure to multiple aspects of the sales process and the chance to develop highly valuable commercial skills that will support your long-term career progression.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Proactively engaging prospective customers through phone, email and other channels to generate high-quality new business opportunities.
  • Qualifying leads and scheduling valuable meetings that create sales opportunities for the wider team.
  • Managing and responding to customer enquiries through our sales inbox, web chat and other communication channels.
  • Building strong customer relationships and helping clients identify the solutions best suited to their needs.
  • Supporting customers who may be considering cancelling their service, understanding their challenges and finding ways to retain their business.
  • Speaking with customers ahead of renewals, identifying opportunities to strengthen relationships and maximise customer value.
  • Maintaining accurate customer records and sales activity within our CRM system.
  • Sharing customer insights and market feedback to help drive continuous improvement across our products, services and customer experience.
  • Representing Mercia professionally and positively, delivering an exceptional experience in every interaction.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Must Have

  • Experience in a B2B sales, customer service or account management role.
  • The confidence and communication skills to build rapport quickly and create meaningful customer conversations.
  • The ability to remain professional, resilient and solution-focused when handling objections or challenging discussions.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and confidence using CRM systems to manage sales activity effectively.
  • Experience using Salesforce or similar CRM and sales engagement platforms.
  • A positive, self-motivated approach and a genuine desire to achieve and exceed targets.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a consistently high standard of customer service.
  • Confidence discussing renewals, retention and customer cancellations in a professional, consultative and empathetic manner.
