Company Description

Appletons Wool is a specialist wool and needlecraft business with a focus on high-quality products for embroidery, tapestry, and other textile arts. The company serves both wholesale clients and retail customers (through our online shop) offering a range of wool, kits, and canvas. Team members work closely with customers to support their creative projects and provide product guidance. Role Description

This is an on-site Sales and Product Development role based in Long Crendon. The role involves managing sales strategies and business development opportunities including monitoring the UK and global market. A creative streak is definitely a necessity and it would be an advantage to have an interest in needlework and/or colour.

The position also includes working as part of a team to create/contribute ideas for new products or improvements and liaising with suppliers and production teams. Collaboration with colleagues on promotions, pricing, and marketing materials is expected, along with participation in trade events or fairs as needed. These may be abroad as well as in the UK.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills, including clear verbal and written interaction with customers, colleagues, and suppliers.
  • Sales and sales management skills, including experience closing sales, managing accounts, and working toward targets or sales objectives.
  • Interest or experience in textiles, wool, needlecraft, or related creative industries is highly beneficial.
  • Ability to work on-site in Long Crendon, manage time effectively, and stay organized in a busy product development environment.
  • Proficiency with basic office and sales software (e.g., email, spreadsheets, order management systems).
  • Prior experience in retail or wholesale environments is an advantage, as is experience in bringing products to market. Candidates with transferable skills are encouraged to apply.
