Technical Sales, Applications Engineering, Sensors & Measurement

Are you an engineer who enjoys solving technical problems, working directly with customers and turning engineering challenges into commercial solutions?

This could be an excellent opportunity to step into a genuinely varied Sales & Applications Engineer role, combining technical engineering, consultative sales, customer visits and application development.

We are looking for an experienced technical professional to join our client's growing team, supporting customers across the UK and Ireland with advanced sensor, measurement and automation solutions.

The Role

This isn't a traditional sales position - you'll need genuine technical understanding and the ability to get to the heart of a customer's application.

You'll work with engineers, production teams, R&D departments and purchasing stakeholders to understand their measurement requirements, identify the right technology and help develop the solution from initial enquiry through to successful implementation.

Your role will include:

  • Visiting customer sites across the UK to understand applications and requirements
  • Providing technical advice and recommending suitable sensor solutions
  • Supporting product demonstrations, trials and proof-of-concept projects
  • Working with customer samples and coordinating testing
  • Presenting technical findings and recommendations
  • Preparing quotations, proposals and application documentation
  • Supporting existing sales opportunities and developing new opportunities
  • Working closely with internal applications and sales teams
  • Liaising with international technical teams for specialist support and training
  • Developing long-term customer relationships and helping convert technical opportunities into sales

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
