As demand for our solutions continue to grow, we are seeking a Sales Application Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer or technically minded professional who enjoys problem-solving, customer interaction and commercial engagement.

The Opportunity

AMOT provides a broad range of products across its primary industries, delivering temperature control and industrial engine safety solutions to customers worldwide. We have a well-established global footprint to serve local markets.

Our customers range from large OEMs and turn-key equipment packagers to service companies and end users across oil and gas, power generation, marine and general industrial sectors. Customers and prospects often require technical assistance to select the right product for their application or require after-market support. This role provides technical support, externally and internally, with a focus on high levels of customer service. AMOT aims to differentiate itself by offering high levels of timely service and support.

The role covers 3 keys areas:

  • Pre-sales technical support to help customers select the correct solution for their application. This may involve reviewing more detailed specifications or simply understanding the customer’s requirements at a high level. Collating a full set of clear requirements to ensure we meet the defined need. Taking the opportunity to upsell where appropriate. Responsibility for supporting nominated key accounts.
  • Proving technical guidance to internal teams as well as supporting the timely delivery of more complex products, right first time.
  • Post-sale technical support, acting as a key contact for customer technical queries and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing a high level of technical support for customers throughout the sales lifecycle.
  • Reviewing and interpreting detailed engineering specifications or working with customers to understand their application requirements.
  • Identifying and pursuing upselling opportunities during the sales process.
  • Owning the support of nominated key accounts with higher levels of enquiry/order complexity.
  • Managing more complex orders through the business post-sale, coordinating cross-functionally to drive customer satisfaction.
  • Strong cross-functional advocate for the customer.
  • Promote customer and end-user awareness of AMOT products.
  • Maintain a sound knowledge of AMOT technology, product lines and applications.

Additional Functions/Duties

  • Occasional customer visits may be necessary, but this is primarily an office-based role.
  • Follow all Company Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Respond to change productively and handle other duties as required.

Education Requirements/Equivalent

  • Ideally a Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Engineering or technical subject; or equivalent from four-year College or technical school.
  • Other technical qualifications (e.g. HND/HNC) or related experience will be considered.

What You'll Bring

  • A technical background, ideally gained in engineering, applications, technical support, account management or a related customer-facing role.
  • The ability to understand customer requirements and translate them into practical technical solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, with the confidence to work effectively with customers and colleagues at all levels.
  • A proactive approach to learning, with a genuine interest in developing product application and industry knowledge.
  • A customer-focused and sales mindset, with a commitment to providing a high standard of service and support.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities, solve problems and work collaboratively across functions.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a willingness to take ownership of customer enquiries and technical challenges.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commission, proportions and percentages.
  • Ideally a degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, although equivalent qualifications or relevant industry experience will also be considered.
