The Sales Assistant is a full-time, on-site role based in Hemel Hempstead. In this position, the Sales Assistant supports the branch by assisting customers at the counter and over the phone, providing product information, and processing sales orders accurately. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Checking stock availability
  • Coordinating with the warehouse and delivery teams to ensure timely order fulfillment
  • Maintaining organized displays and work areas
  • Updating customer records
  • Contributing to sales targets through proactive customer engagement
  • Resolving customer queries
  • Following company procedures
  • Supporting colleagues to deliver a high standard of service

Qualifications

  • Strong customer-focused skills, including Customer Service and Interpersonal Skills, with the ability to build positive, long-term relationships.
  • Effective Communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage with customers, colleagues, and suppliers clearly and professionally.
  • Sales aptitude and basic Sales skills, with an interest in promoting products and supporting the achievement of branch targets.
  • Good Organization Skills, including attention to detail, time management, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a busy environment.
  • Basic IT proficiency, including use of email, order entry systems, and office applications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting and contribute to a positive, inclusive workplace.
  • Willingness to learn about electrical products and industry terminology; prior experience in electrical wholesale or retail is beneficial but not essential.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing or sales support role and a reliable, professional approach to work.
