Work

Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.

What you'll do at work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

Working closely with the wider team, you'll support the day-to-day administration, sales and customer service activities of the business. The role is primarily office and customer-facing, with additional responsibilities in the stores and occasional support in the workshop. This varied role may include:

  • Responding to customer enquiries by telephone, email and in person
  • Providing customers with information about hydraulic hoses, fittings, valves and other products
  • Creating accurate quotes and processing sales orders
  • Processing invoices and supporting general accounts administration
  • Entering and updating customer, order and product information on the company's systems and ERP system
  • Maintaining accurate records, databases, spreadsheets and filing systems
  • Supporting the sales team with administration and customer follow-up
  • Liaising with customers and suppliers to obtain information and resolve queries
  • Building positive relationships with trade customers through responsive and professional customer service
  • Receiving and processing incoming deliveries
  • Supporting stock control and carrying out regular stock takes
  • Checking, organising and replenishing stock in the stores
  • Picking, packaging and preparing products for dispatch
  • Preparing and processing paperwork relating to orders and deliveries
  • Assisting with the organisation and maintenance of the stores and office
  • Supporting the team with general administrative tasks and projects
  • Providing occasional support in the workshop when required, including assisting with practical tasks and developing an understanding of hydraulic hose assembly and workshop processes
  • Following company procedures relating to health and safety, quality and customer service

Skilled in the use of multiple IT packages and systems relevant to the organisation in order to: write letters or emails, create proposals, perform financial processes, record and analyse data. Examples include MS Office or equivalent packages. Able to choose the most appropriate IT solution to suit the business problem.

Able to update and review databases, record information and produce data analysis where required.

Produces accurate records and documents including: emails, letters, files, payments, reports and proposals. Makes recommendations for improvements and present solutions to management. Drafts correspondence, writes reports and able to review others' work. Maintains records and files, handles confidential information in compliance with the organisation's procedures. Coaches others in the processes required to complete these tasks.

Training schedule

Next Level will work closely with you to complete your Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship. We can hire apprentices at any time and hold regular workshops for those on the course. These workshops occur once every 2 weeks both online and in our academy in Bristol City Centre. You will get specific 1-2-1 tutoring and regular reviews between your tutor, manager and yourself to ensure you are meeting deadlines and staying on top of your work. If required, we can also provide Functional Skills in maths and English, throughout your apprenticeship.
