I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we're looking for
We're interested in people who want to develop, not people who already have everything figured out.
You could be a recent graduate, looking for a career change, or already have experience in sales, customer service, retail, hospitality, or another people-focused environment. What matters most is your approach.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has a strong work ethic
- Is willing to put the work in to improve
- Has a genuine student mentality
- Is comfortable receiving and applying feedback
- Communicates confidently and professionally
- Takes ownership of their development
- Can work independently and as part of a team

- Wants to build towards leadership and greater responsibility
- Takes a long-term view of their career
The role isn't limited to one set of responsibilities. As you develop, there are opportunities to build experience across:
Sales → Business Development → Team Development → Leadership → Operations & Business Responsibility
Progression is based on performance, consistency, attitude, skill development, and ability to take on greater responsibility.
