The Role
We aren't looking for a passive cold-caller who just drops leads off at the door. We are looking for an ambitious, strategic Business Development Manager who will act as a true growth partner to agency leadership.
In this role, you will lead our client acquisition efforts while actively collaborating with us to define where our design team wins best—whether that's high-growth tech startups, premium e-commerce, luxury branding, or another high-value niche.

Key Responsibilities

Client Acquisition & Sales (70%)
- Pipeline Generation: Proactively identify, target, and open conversations with decision-makers (Founders, CMOs, Marketing Directors, Product Leads) who need top-tier design and digital services.
- Deal Closing: Pitch The Obelisk's creative capabilities, consult on client needs, draft proposals, and navigate negotiations through to signed contracts.
- Relationship Building: Establish meaningful, long-term relationships with prospective clients to secure repeat business and retainer agreements.

Strategic Positioning & Alignment (30%)
- Positioning Strategy: Work closely with leadership to evaluate incoming opportunities, analyze where our design team delivers maximum ROI, and help carve out our primary market niche.
- Weekly Alignment Meetings: Participate in 2x weekly dedicated strategy sessions with agency leadership to review the sales pipeline, adjust outreach messaging based on market feedback, and refine our service packaging.
- Offer Refinement: Provide real-time market feedback on client pain points to help us continuously optimize our pricing, packages, and positioning.

What We're Looking For
- Sales Experience: Proven track record selling professional services (design, web development, branding, or digital agency solutions).
- Strategic Mindset: You understand that selling design isn't just about selling "pretty visuals"—it's about selling business transformation and brand value.
- Self-Starter Drive: You know how to build a sales cadence, manage a CRM, and turn cold or warm prospects into active conversations.
- Collaborative Communicator: You enjoy bouncing ideas off agency founders, giving honest market feedback, and building business strategy together.
