Africa Travel Sales Consultant
Location: Remote
Reports to: Sales Manager
About Africa & Beyond
Africa & Beyond is a specialist travel company creating tailor-made journeys throughout Africa and selected long-haul destinations. We work closely with travel agents, combining detailed destination knowledge with personal service to create carefully planned trips for their clients.
The role
We are looking for an experienced Africa Travel Sales Consultant to convert high-value enquiries into confirmed bookings and create complex, tailor-made African itineraries. This is a consultative sales role requiring strong commercial ability and genuine knowledge of African travel. You will advise agents, recommend suitable destinations and experiences, and design itineraries around each client’s interests, travel style, and budget.
What you’ll be doing
- Managing inbound sales enquiries from initial contact through to confirmed booking.
- Creating detailed, costed and tailor-made African itineraries.
- Building strong relationships with travel agents and providing confident destination advice.
- Achieving individual sales, conversion, and gross profit targets.
- Generating additional opportunities through leads, referrals, and repeat business.
- Preparing accurate quotations, proposals, and travel documentation.
- Managing supplier communications, booking processes, and amendments.
- Maintaining accurate enquiry and customer records within the CRM system.
- Keeping up to date with destinations, lodges, camps, hotels, and industry developments.
- Attending supplier training, trade events, webinars, and educational trips when required.

What we’re looking for
- Professional experience selling African holidays, safaris, or luxury African travel is essential.
- You will also need:
- Strong working knowledge of destinations including South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Uganda, and Mozambique.
- Knowledge of safari styles, wildlife experiences, seasons, migration patterns, accommodation, and travel logistics.
- Experience independently designing, costing, and selling complex African itineraries.
- A proven track record in travel sales, including achieving or exceeding individual targets.
- Strong commercial awareness, conversion, closing, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple enquiries at once.
- A professional, consultative, and customer-focused approach.

Desirable experience
- First-hand travel experience within Africa.
- Previous experience with a specialist tour operator or luxury travel company.
- Knowledge of additional long-haul destinations.
- Experience using a GDS, CRM, or travel reservation system.
- Existing relationships with suppliers in the African travel sector.
