Job Summary
The Sales Consultant is responsible for developing and growing an assigned customer territory through proactive customer engagement, relationship management, new business acquisition, account development, customer retention, and reactivation of lapsed and lost customers. The role focuses on delivering profitable sales growth through a combination of new customer acquisition, increased share of wallet within existing accounts, and recovery of lost business opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships
- Conduct regular customer visits and reviews
- Identify customer needs and opportunities
- Deliver excellent customer service and support
- Maintain customer engagement and loyalty
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers
New Business Development
- Identify and pursue new customer opportunities
- Conduct proactive prospecting activities including cold calling, customer visits, networking, and referrals
- Develop prospect pipelines within assigned territories
- Convert prospects into active customers
- Promote company products and services
- Support customer acquisition objectives
- Increase market penetration within target areas
Territory Management
- Plan and manage daily customer activity through following a journey plan
- Ensure effective territory coverage
- Prioritise opportunities based on potential value
- Maintain accurate customer information
- Monitor territory performance and trends
- Manage customer visits efficiently and complete visit reports

Sales Performance
- Achieve and exceed sales targets
- Identify opportunities to increase customer spend
- Promote new products and solutions
- Support category and divisional initiatives
- Manage opportunities through the sales process
- Maintain healthy customer pipelines
- Increase product penetration across existing customer accounts
- Identify opportunities to expand product categories and increase share of wallet
- Deliver profitable revenue growth through upselling and cross-selling activities
- Identify and reactivate lapsed, dormant, and lost customer accounts
- Analyse reasons for customer attrition and implement recovery strategies
- Develop and execute win-back plans to recover lost revenue and market share
Negotiation and Influencing
- Ability to identify and close sales opportunities
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with Area Sales Managers and support functions
- Support implementation of company initiatives
- Share customer insight and market feedback
- Collaborate with Customer Operations and Pricing teams
- Achieve sales growth while maintaining agreed margin objectives
- Manage pricing and promotional activity in line with company guidelines
- Support customer issue resolution where required

- Develop product and market knowledge
- Improve selling capability and effectiveness

What You’ll Get in Return
- £24,000 basic salary with minimum guaranteed earnings of £27,300 with OTE of £35,000
