The Role
Reporting to the Customer Operations Manager we are looking for a commercially focused and proactive individual to help grow our internal sales business while taking ownership of excess and obsolete stock & providing support to the internal sales teams. The role will combine driving new sales opportunities, developing existing customer relationships and maximising the value of surplus inventory.
You will work closely with the internal sales teams to identify sales opportunities, improve stock utilisation and develop effective strategies to reduce excess and obsolete stock. The ideal candidate will be confident, analytical and commercially minded, with a strong ability to build relationships and turn opportunities into revenue.
Key Tasks
- Grow internal sales by identifying new opportunities and developing existing customer relationships.
- Proactively engage with customers to understand their requirements and identify opportunities to increase sales.
- Identify opportunities to introduce additional products and services to customers.
- Take ownership of the excess and obsolete stock portfolio, developing plans to reduce stockholding and recover value.
- Analyse stock levels, age, demand and sales history to identify slow-moving, excess and obsolete inventory.
- Work closely with Sales, Purchasing, Marketing, Operations and Finance teams to agree and implement stock reduction strategies.
- Develop targeted sales campaigns and customer offers to move surplus and ageing stock.
- Monitor and report on sales performance, stock reduction and financial recovery against agreed targets.
- Support the wider Internal Sales team during periods of increased workload, helping to maintain service levels and respond promptly to customer enquiries.
- Develop a strong understanding of the Internal Sales team's customers, processes and product portfolio to ensure effective cover when required.
- Full understanding of the sales process from quoting to delivery.

The Candidate
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, a professional telephone manner and the ability to build positive relationships with both customers and colleagues. You will be self-motivated, well organised and able to prioritise your workload effectively, with a strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.

The ideal candidate will have a background in sales, with strong negotiation and influencing skills and a proven track record of achieving sales targets. You will be commercially minded, confident in identifying sales opportunities and comfortable taking a proactive approach to developing customer relationships and driving sales.
Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, together with the ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of customer service.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Excel and Word, is essential. Experience using Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided.
