Role Description
This full-time, on-site Sales Counter Operative role is based at our Ilkeston store. The role involves greeting customers at the trade counter, understanding their requirements, and providing product advice and quotations.

Day-to-day tasks include:

- Processing sales transactions
- Handling cash and card payments
- Preparing orders
- Ensuring stock is neatly displayed and available
The Sales Counter Operative will respond to phone, email, and in-person enquiries, assist with order picking, along with supporting colleagues to maintain a safe, clean, and well-organized branch.
Qualifications
- Strong Communication Skills (in person, on the phone, and with emails)
- A strong set of Customer Service skills to support and advise a wide range of customers.
- Product knowledge and a willingness to learn and share that knowledge and experience with colleagues.
- Numeracy and accuracy for handling payments, pricing, and stock-related tasks.
- Previous experience in a retail, trade counter, or DIY/timber environment is beneficial.
- Ability to work on-site in Ilkeston, including standing for extended periods and handling light to moderate manual tasks.
- Reliable, organized, and able to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Ability to think on their feet and stay calm while under pressure and multitasking.
- Competent using Microsoft Office and other ICT software.
