Who we are
Modern Networks is a leading Managed Service Provider (MSP) and Internet Service Provider (ISP), supporting businesses across the UK with connectivity, IT support, cloud, cyber security and managed technology solutions. Through our specialist Science Parks division, we work with some of the UK's most innovative businesses, helping start-ups, scale-ups and established organisations maximise the value of their technology investments. As our Science Park customer base continues to grow, we are looking for a highly motivated Sales Development Executive to help us increase engagement across our tenant community and create new commercial opportunities.
The Role
The Science Park Sales Development Executive is responsible for creating regular engagement with Science Park tenants, identifying opportunities and generating qualified sales leads for our Account Management team.
Working from our Exeter office, you will spend much of your day speaking with customers, developing relationships and uncovering opportunities for Modern Networks' products and services. Unlike traditional telesales roles, you will be engaging with a warm customer base. Many of the organisations you speak with are already customers of Modern Networks, creating an excellent opportunity to build relationships and identify additional customer needs.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Success in this role comes from energy, persistence, curiosity and a genuine enjoyment of speaking with customers.
Who are we looking for?
