Sales Development Manager
Manchester city centre
£60,000 - £70,000 base salary
£100,000 - £110,000 OTE
About our client
Our client provides nearshore software engineering services to enterprise organisations. They're growing fast, and their Manchester sales development team is growing with them. Now they need an experienced leader to take that team to the next level.
The role
This is a pure people leadership role, and you won't be starting from scratch. You'll inherit an established team of 6 to 8 BDRs, with headcount already approved and recruitment underway. Your job is to lead, coach and develop them into a team that consistently delivers.
You'll own the team's results, from meetings and qualified opportunities through to pipeline and new business growth. You'll lead from the front, using your own outbound experience to coach on messaging, objection handling, call quality and prospecting strategy. If you love being hands-on, setting the pace and building an energetic, high-performance culture, this is a role where you can make your mark quickly.
What you'll do
- Lead, manage and develop the BDR team
- Own team performance across activity, meetings booked, qualified opportunities and pipeline contribution
- Deliver structured coaching through call reviews, message reviews, objection handling sessions and regular 1:1s
- Onboard and ramp new team members with a consistent, effective approach
- Drive high standards in outbound activity, pipeline quality and CRM discipline
- Build a strong operating rhythm, including team cadences, sequences, reporting and top-of-funnel forecasting
- Work with sales and marketing to align on target accounts, messaging, campaigns and follow-up
- Use data to spot coaching opportunities and improve results
- Create a high-energy, accountable, performance-driven culture
- Be visible and present with the team, setting the standard every day

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
