THE COMPANY
The company is a growing technology business operating within the energy and electrification market. They are seeking a Sales Development Representative to help build a new business pipeline through proactive outbound prospecting, while also qualifying inbound opportunities.
This is a commercial role suited to someone who enjoys creating opportunities from scratch. The position follows a hybrid working pattern with four days per week in the office, alongside occasional travel for customer meetings, seminars and industry events.
JOB SUMMARY
The Sales Development Representative will focus on outbound new business development and lead generation, using cold calling and targeted prospecting to identify decision-makers, open conversations and convert them into qualified opportunities. You will also manage inbound enquiries and work closely with the wider commercial team to develop pipeline across energy companies, electrical wholesalers and distributors, installers, contractors and other relevant B2B customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES INCLUDE
- Build new business pipeline from scratch through high-volume outbound calling and prospecting.
- Identify and approach target accounts, decision-makers and new market opportunities.
- Qualify inbound enquiries and convert suitable leads into sales opportunities.
- Cold-call prospective customers across energy, electrical wholesale, installation, contracting and related markets.
- Handle gatekeepers, objections and rejection confidently while maintaining consistent activity levels.
- Turn initial cold conversations into qualified meetings and opportunities for the wider sales team.
- Work towards defined activity, pipeline and meeting-generation KPIs and targets.
- Maintain accurate prospect and opportunity information within the CRM.
- Support occasional customer meetings, seminars, exhibitions and industry events.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Ideally 1-2 years of experience in an SDR, BDR, telesales, inside sales or similar outbound B2B sales role.
- Demonstrable experience of cold calling, outbound prospecting and creating pipeline independently.
- Comfortable working in a phone-heavy sales environment and maintaining high activity levels.
- Experience identifying prospects, getting past gatekeepers and handling objections.
- Able to explain how you have converted cold outreach into qualified meetings or opportunities.
- Experience working towards measurable sales KPIs, activity targets and pipeline goals.
- Experience in energy, utilities, electrical products, electrical distribution, EV charging or electrical contracting would be advantageous.
- Strong outbound experience from SaaS, technology or another B2B environment will also be considered.
- Some understanding of electrical, energy or infrastructure markets would be beneficial but is not essential.

- Comfortable working collaboratively within an office-based sales team.
- Curious, coachable and willing to learn a technical market and customer base.
