Sales Development Representative

Location: Kent
Salary: Competitive basic salary plus commission
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm
Working arrangement: Office based
Employment type: Full time

The Role

We are recruiting for a confident, driven, and commercially minded Sales Development Representative to join a growing business based in Kent.

This is a fast-paced, office-based B2B sales role focused on generating new business opportunities. You will be responsible for proactively engaging prospective customers, identifying their requirements, developing strong relationships, and converting leads into qualified opportunities and new customer accounts.

This role would suit someone who enjoys speaking with customers, is confident making outbound calls, and is motivated by targets, KPIs, and achieving results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Make proactive outbound calls to prospective business customers.
  • Generate and qualify new business opportunities.
  • Identify customer needs and introduce suitable service solutions.
  • Build, manage, and maintain a strong pipeline of prospects.
  • Follow up leads, quotations, and previous sales conversations promptly.
  • Book appointments and progress opportunities through the sales process.
  • Convert prospects into new customer accounts.
  • Handle objections confidently and negotiate effectively.
  • Maintain accurate records of calls, opportunities, and customer interactions.
  • Keep CRM records and sales pipelines accurate and up to date.
  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure a smooth handover of new customers.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the company’s services, customers, and target markets.
  • Consistently work towards and exceed individual and team sales targets.

KPI-Driven Environment

This is a performance-focused position, with success measured against clearly defined KPIs, including:

  • Outbound calls and meaningful customer conversations
  • Decision-maker contacts
  • Qualified opportunities generated
  • Appointments booked
  • Quotations generated and followed up
  • Conversion rates
  • New customers won
  • Monthly new business revenue
  • Sales pipeline value and activity

Performance will be reviewed regularly, with coaching and support provided to help you achieve and exceed targets.

About You

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Confident, professional, and persuasive on the telephone.
  • Comfortable making outbound calls and approaching new businesses.
  • Target-driven and motivated by measurable results.
  • Resilient, positive, and able to handle rejection constructively.
  • Organised and disciplined with follow-up activity.
  • Comfortable working in a structured, KPI-driven environment.
  • Able to build rapport quickly with prospective customers.
  • A clear and effective communicator.
  • Able to work independently while contributing to a wider commercial team.
  • Competent using CRM systems, email, and standard office software.

Previous experience in sales development, telesales, lead generation, business development, or B2B sales would be advantageous. Experience within a service-led business would also be beneficial, although it is not essential.

A successful Sales Development Representative will consistently create qualified opportunities, maintain a healthy and active pipeline, and convert prospects into long-term customers.

You will take ownership of your performance, understand your position against target, and proactively manage your daily activity to achieve monthly objectives.
