Job Description

Sales Development Representative Manager Oxford Nanopore Technologies

Location: Oxford, UK (Hybrid)

Alternative locations in Germany or France could also be considered.

About The Role

Oxford Nanopore Technologies is seeking an experienced Sales Development Representative (SDR) Manager to lead and develop a high-performing team responsible for transforming generated leads into qualified commercial opportunities and driving growth across our EMEAI region.

Reporting to the EMEAI Inside Sales Director, you will play a pivotal role in bridging Marketing and Sales, ensuring that potential customers are engaged, qualified, and supported throughout the early stages of the customer journey.

This role is ideally suited to an individual who combines strong commercial leadership experience with a scientific background and a genuine passion for helping teams succeed.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of SDR professionals across the EMEAI region.
  • Drive the qualification, nurturing, and conversion of marketing-generated leads into high-quality sales opportunities.
  • Establish best practices for lead management, prioritisation, qualification, and follow-up.
  • Monitor team performance against key metrics and conversion targets.
  • Deliver regular coaching, performance feedback, and development planning.
  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Commercial Operations teams to optimise funnel performance and commercial outcomes.
  • Use data and insights to identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, customer focus, and collaboration.
  • Ensure generated leads make a measurable contribution to commercial pipeline growth.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Experience leading an SDR, BDR, Inside Sales, or commercial development team.
  • Proven success building pipeline through effective lead qualification and opportunity creation.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and performance management experience.
  • Degree in Molecular Biology, Genomics, Genetics, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • Experience within life sciences, biotechnology, scientific instrumentation, diagnostics, genomics, or a related sector.
  • Ability to engage confidently with scientific and technical customer audiences.
  • Strong analytical and data-driven approach to performance management.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable

  • Experience within genomics, sequencing, molecular biology, or adjacent markets.
  • Knowledge of the research, clinical, biotech, or pharmaceutical customer landscape.
  • Experience working across international markets.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and sales engagement tools.
