Sales Development Representative
Manchester | Up to £32,000 basic + uncapped commission | Up to £50,000 OTE
Are you an experienced B2B salesperson looking for a role where you can develop your consultative sales skills, earn well and have a clear route into Account Management? I’m recruiting for a Senior Sales Development Representative opportunity with an established and growing B2B sales business based in Manchester.
This is not traditional telemarketing. While the role is outbound and cold calling remains an important part of the position, the focus is on having genuine conversations with potential customers, understanding their challenges and identifying whether there is a real business need. They want salespeople who are naturally curious, ask good questions and listen properly. You'll need to understand what a prospect's pain looks like, the impact it's having on their business and then use that information to explore the right solution.
As a Senior Sales Development Representative, you'll also spend slightly less time cold calling than someone at Sales Development Representative level, while taking on greater responsibility and developing towards the next stage of your career.
The Role
You’ll be working in a predominantly outbound B2B sales environment, speaking with business decision-makers and creating genuine sales opportunities. Your responsibilities will include:
- Making outbound calls to prospective B2B customers
- Speaking with decision-makers and senior contacts within businesses
- Asking open, insightful questions to understand their situation
- Identifying customer pain points and understanding their impact
- Using active listening to uncover genuine sales opportunities
- Taking a consultative and solution-led approach to conversations
- Qualifying and developing potential opportunities
- Building strong relationships with prospective customers
- Understanding the client's offering and matching it to relevant customer needs
- Working towards agreed sales targets
- Sharing knowledge and experience with less experienced members of the sales team
- Continuing to develop your commercial and consultative sales skills

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
