Business Development Manager
£70,000–£80,000+ Base + Commission & Performance Bonus | City of London | 5 Days Office
We’re recruiting an experienced Business Development Manager to join a fast-growing specialist consultancy within the innovation funding and tax relief market.
This is a new-business focused sales role for someone who knows how to build a pipeline, open doors and develop credible relationships with senior decision-makers.
Working with innovative businesses across sectors including fintech, AI, defence and sustainable technology, you’ll identify new opportunities, engage prospective clients and introduce specialist services across R&D tax relief, Capital Allowances and Energy Relief.
The business has grown quickly since launching in 2020 and is continuing to invest in its sales team to drive further growth. They’re looking for someone commercially ambitious who enjoys creating opportunities, winning new clients and taking ownership of the sales process from initial prospecting through to close.

The Role
- Identify and develop new business opportunities across the UK.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline through proactive business development.
- Engage with C-suite executives, business owners and other senior decision-makers.
- Understand prospective clients and identify where the firm’s services could add value.
- Develop trusted relationships and convert opportunities into new clients.
- Build long-term relationships across a growing portfolio of businesses.
- Leverage your existing network to create new opportunities where relevant.
- Represent the business at industry events, networking opportunities and professional association meetings.
- Work closely with internal specialists to ensure a seamless experience for clients.
- Track, manage and forecast pipeline activity and sales performance.
About You
- At least five years’ experience within B2B sales or business development.
- A strong track record of winning new business and achieving growth targets.
- Experience engaging and selling to C-suite and senior decision-makers.
- Confident building a pipeline from the ground up and generating your own opportunities.
- Commercially minded and comfortable working towards clear targets.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
- An existing network of relevant business contacts would be advantageous.
- Confident, proactive and comfortable working autonomously.
- Motivated by both individual performance and being part of a growing business.

This is a five-day-a-week office-based role in the City of London. A strong opportunity for an established business developer who enjoys the full new-business cycle, wants ownership of their pipeline and is motivated by joining a growing business where their performance will have a visible impact.
