Sales Director

Leicestershire
Up to £95,000 DOE plus bonus and car allowance

We are working exclusively with an established and growing retail business to appoint an experienced Sales Director.

This is an opportunity for an ambitious commercial leader who enjoys combining strategic thinking with hands-on leadership. The successful candidate will take ownership of the sales function, helping shape the next stage of growth while ensuring that the customer experience remains at the heart of the business.

Description of the role:

  • Develop and implement a clear, commercially focused sales strategy.
  • Lead, coach and develop sales managers and the wider sales team.
  • Take ownership of sales budgets, forecasting, targets and performance reporting.
  • Drive improved performance across customer-facing locations and sales channels.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities, partnerships and routes to market.
  • Use sales data, market intelligence and customer insight to identify opportunities and make informed decisions.
  • Develop strong relationships with key customers and commercial partners.
  • Work collaboratively with marketing, operations, buying and other functions across the business.
  • Review pricing, promotional activity and commercial initiatives to support profitable growth.
  • Maintain consistently high standards of customer service throughout the sales journey.
  • Build a strong talent pipeline and support succession planning within the sales function.
  • Provide clear commercial insight and recommendations to the senior leadership team.

About you:

  • Proven experience leading a sizeable sales function at senior management or director level.
  • A strong record of delivering ambitious revenue and commercial targets.
  • Experience within premium retail, luxury goods or a related environment.
  • Experience across both consumer and trade/B2B sales channels.
  • Strong commercial and analytical capability, with the confidence to use data to drive decisions.
  • Experience identifying and delivering significant new business opportunities.
  • A genuine strength in coaching, motivating and developing people.
  • Experience operating within a growing or evolving business.
  • The ability to develop and execute a multi-channel sales strategy.
  • Strong communication, influencing, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organisation and project management capability.
  • A proactive, results-focused and hands-on approach.
  • Confidence using CRM, Excel, PowerPoint and sales reporting systems.
