Sales Director – PE-Backed EV Charging Scale-Up
UK | Hybrid / Remote
We are supporting a Private Equity-backed EV charging business that is entering the next stage of its UK and European growth.
The company develops and delivers EV charging solutions across the commercial, fleet and destination charging markets, combining charging hardware, software and associated energy services.
Following further investment into the business, they are looking to appoint a Sales Director to lead commercial growth across the UK and help build the platform for wider European expansion.
This is a senior, hands-on commercial role for someone who understands how to build revenue in a developing market rather than simply inherit an established sales organisation.
The Role
You will take ownership of the UK commercial strategy and work closely with the senior leadership team to grow revenue, strengthen key customer relationships and develop new routes to market.
Responsibilities will include:
- Leading the UK sales strategy across EV charging and associated energy solutions.
- Building and developing a high-performing sales team as the business scales.
- Winning strategic customers across fleet, workplace, commercial property, retail and destination charging.
- Developing relationships with fleet operators, CPOs, installers, energy companies, property groups and other channel partners.
- Identifying new routes to market and commercial partnerships.
- Managing complex enterprise sales cycles from initial engagement through to contract negotiation and close.
- Building a structured and predictable sales pipeline.
- Working closely with product, operations and engineering teams to ensure customer requirements are understood and delivered.
- Supporting the leadership team with commercial planning, forecasting and market expansion.
- Playing a key role in the company's wider UK and European growth strategy.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
Experience within a PE-backed, VC-backed or entrepreneurial growth business would be particularly relevant.
Why Consider It?
This is an opportunity to join a business at an important stage of its development.
The company already has established technology, customers and financial backing, but there is significant scope to build the commercial organisation further.
The successful person will have genuine influence over:
- UK commercial strategy
- team structure
- key customer acquisition
- partnerships
- routes to market
- future European expansion
For someone coming from a larger EV charging or energy business, it provides the opportunity to take significantly broader commercial ownership and directly influence the next stage of growth.
