Sales Director, UK & Ireland

Hunter Douglas Architectural Products is a leading manufacturer of ceiling and wall systems, recognised for innovation, design, and quality. We work with architects, designers, and contractors to deliver innovative solutions for the built environment.

We are looking for an experienced and commercially driven Sales Director to lead our AP sales team in the UK and Ireland. As a senior commercial leader, you will combine strategic thinking with a hands-on approach, identifying new market opportunities, supporting major accounts, and ensuring the sales team is positioned to deliver ambitious growth plans.

Key responsibilities

As Sales Director, you will:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing sales team, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration, and customer focus.
  • Set clear sales objectives, targets, and KPIs, regularly reviewing performance and identifying opportunities for continued development.
  • Develop and implement the sales strategy in line with wider business and commercial objectives.
  • Drive revenue growth by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities across the architectural and construction sectors.
  • Manage and oversee the project pipeline, from early-stage specification through to project execution.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key industry stakeholders, including architects, developers, contractors, and consultants.
  • Support the sales team with complex, high-value accounts, commercial negotiations, and key project opportunities.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and future project opportunities to help inform commercial decision-making.
  • Provide accurate sales forecasts, reports, and market insights to the wider leadership team.
  • Work collaboratively with specification, marketing, operations, and finance teams to support successful project delivery.
  • Collaborate with regional and global colleagues, sharing best practice and identifying opportunities across international projects.

What we are looking for

We are looking for an established sales leader who can combine strong commercial expertise with excellent people leadership and relationship-building skills.

Ideally, you will have:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field, with an MBA advantageous.
  • At least 5 years' experience within B2B sales in construction, ideally within architectural products.
  • Proven experience of leading, coaching, and developing successful sales teams.
  • A demonstrable track record of delivering sales growth and achieving commercial targets within a project-led environment.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a good understanding of complex and longer-term project sales cycles.
  • Experience managing senior customer and stakeholder relationships, including complex or high-value accounts.
  • The confidence to lead commercial negotiations and influence stakeholders at a senior level.
  • Strong strategic thinking alongside the ability to translate strategy into clear actions and measurable results.
  • Experience using CRM systems and project tracking/reporting tools.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Fluent English, with additional languages advantageous.
  • A full, valid driving licence, with the flexibility to travel to customer and project locations as required.
