Director of Sales
We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Director of Sales to lead and develop a high-performing sales function.
The successful candidate will be responsible for setting the overall sales strategy, leading a team of Sales and Business Development professionals, driving revenue growth, and ensuring the business consistently delivers against agreed commercial targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the overall sales strategy in line with wider business objectives.
- Lead, manage and develop a team of 10+ Sales and Business Development professionals.
- Set clear sales targets, KPIs and performance expectations across the team.
- Take ownership of revenue generation, pipeline development and overall sales performance.
- Monitor individual and team performance, conversion rates, activity levels and pipeline progression.
- Identify opportunities for growth and develop strategies to increase revenue, market penetration and customer acquisition.
- Provide coaching, mentoring and leadership to develop a high-performing sales culture.
- Conduct regular one-to-ones, performance reviews and team meetings.
- Identify underperformance and implement clear improvement plans where required.
- Analyse sales data, forecasting and market trends to inform commercial decision-making.
- Produce regular sales and performance reports for senior leadership.
- Review and improve sales processes, systems and structures to maximise efficiency and performance.
- Work closely with other senior stakeholders to ensure sales activity supports wider business objectives.
- Support the recruitment, onboarding and development of new team members.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key clients and strategic accounts where appropriate.
- Ensure the sales function operates with clear accountability, consistency and commercial focus.

Requirements
- Proven experience in a senior Sales, Business Development or Commercial leadership position.
- Experience managing teams of 10 or more staff is essential.
- Strong track record of delivering and exceeding revenue, sales and performance targets.
- Demonstrable experience developing and implementing sales strategies.
- Strong leadership, coaching and performance management capabilities.
- Commercially astute with a strong understanding of sales performance and revenue generation.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical ability with experience using CRM systems, sales reporting and forecasting tools.
- Ability to interpret data and translate insights into clear commercial actions.
- Experience managing sales pipelines, forecasting and conversion performance.
- Highly organised, proactive and comfortable operating in a target-driven environment.

The Ideal Candidate
You will be an ambitious, commercially focused sales leader with the ability to operate strategically while remaining close enough to the detail to drive day-to-day performance. You will have a proven track record of leading sizeable sales teams, developing people and delivering consistent revenue growth. You will be confident setting strategy, challenging performance and creating accountability, while also building a positive and motivated sales culture. This is an opportunity for an experienced sales leader to take ownership of a significant commercial function and play a key role in the continued growth of the business.
