Sales Director Northern Europe

PE-backed international manufacturer | Full commercial and P&L responsibility | Highly competitive package

ASR International has been exclusively retained to appoint a Sales Director for an established, PE-backed international manufacturer serving the construction and industrial markets.

The business has a strong market position, significant growth ambitions and a state-of-the-art, fully automated UK manufacturing facility. This appointment will play a central role in developing its commercial operation across the UK, Ireland and Northern Europe.

The Sales Director will assume full commercial and P&L responsibility for a regional business approaching £50 million. Leading a small, experienced commercial team, including a functional director, you will remain directly involved with customers, strategic accounts and the commercial activity of the business.

This is a role for a commercially driven operator—a leader who can set the strategy but is equally comfortable negotiating major agreements, developing key accounts and identifying new opportunities personally.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

This opportunity is unlikely to suit someone who has become removed from customers and frontline sales activity or has operated primarily through multiple layers of management. The successful candidate will be a visible, hands-on commercial leader who enjoys working directly with customers and taking ownership of results.

You will combine strong leadership with commercial judgement, energy and the ability to identify where future growth can come from—whether through existing accounts, new customers, alternative channels or broader product opportunities.

The role is UK-based and will include occasional travel into Northern Europe, typically for a couple of days every six to eight weeks.

This is a retained and strictly confidential executive search. Further information will be shared with suitable candidates following an initial confidential discussion.
