Job Title: Sales Director

Location: Essex / Hybrid

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Package: Car allowance/company car + bonus + benefits

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Sales Director to join a leading Passive Fire Protection contractor. This is a senior leadership position, responsible for driving the company's commercial growth, developing key client relationships and identifying new business opportunities across the UK.

The successful candidate will have a strong background within Passive Fire Protection and a proven track record of selling services to Tier 1 Main Contractors. You will be commercially driven, well connected within the construction sector and confident operating at senior level with key decision-makers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the company's sales and business development strategy.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities within the Passive Fire Protection sector.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Tier 1 Main Contractors, developers and key construction clients.
  • Develop existing client accounts and maximise opportunities for repeat and long-term business.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of tenders, bids and commercial proposals.
  • Work closely with estimating, pre-construction, commercial and operational teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Identify upcoming projects and develop strategies to position the business ahead of competitors.
  • Attend client meetings, networking events and industry functions as a senior representative of the business.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and opportunities for business growth.
  • Manage and develop the sales pipeline, ensuring accurate forecasting and reporting.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with senior procurement, commercial and construction personnel.
  • Contribute to the overall strategic direction and growth of the business.
  • Lead, mentor and develop the wider sales/business development function as the company grows.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven senior-level sales/business development experience within Passive Fire Protection.
  • A strong track record of successfully selling to Tier 1 Main Contractors.
  • An established network of contacts across the UK construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of passive fire protection, including firestopping, compartmentation and associated passive fire systems.
  • Demonstrable experience winning new business and securing sizeable contracts.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
  • The ability to build relationships at director and senior decision-maker level.
  • Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills.
  • A strategic and commercially focused approach to sales.
  • Experience managing and developing a sales/business development team would be advantageous.
  • A proven ability to meet and exceed sales targets.
