Experienced Sales Director – Oil & Gas Materials Testing

We are seeking an experienced Sales Director – Oil & Gas Materials Testing to lead business development and commercial growth across the Aberdeen and North Sea energy markets.

This is a senior commercial leadership position responsible for expanding our materials testing, laboratory testing, inspection and related technical services with Oil & Gas operators, EPCs, engineering companies, manufacturers, fabricators, offshore contractors and the wider energy supply chain.

The successful candidate will develop strategic customer relationships, identify new business opportunities, lead major sales pursuits and position SGS as a trusted technical partner for customers requiring independent testing, inspection, verification and analytical services.

We offer customers a broad portfolio across Oil, Gas & Chemicals, including laboratory testing, inspection, verification, risk management and related technical services.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Develop and execute the commercial strategy for Oil & Gas materials testing and related technical services in Aberdeen and the North Sea.

Strategic Account Management

  • Develop senior-level relationships with:
    • Oil & Gas operators
    • Independent exploration and production companies
    • EPC contractors
    • Offshore engineering organizations
    • Subsea companies
    • Pipeline operators
    • Fabrication companies
    • Steel and material manufacturers
    • Oilfield equipment manufacturers
    • Drilling contractors
    • Inspection and integrity-management companies
    • Decommissioning organizations
    • Emerging-energy companies

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of commercial experience selling technical services into the Oil & Gas or Energy sector, with a demonstrated record of winning new business and developing strategic accounts.

Required Experience

  • Significant Oil & Gas commercial experience.
  • Proven business-development track record.
  • Experience selling technical, engineering, laboratory, inspection, testing or certification services.
  • Established network within the Aberdeen / North Sea energy market.
  • Experience selling to operators, EPCs, engineering companies or manufacturers.
  • Demonstrated ability to win major contracts and framework agreements.
  • Strong understanding of complex B2B sales cycles.
  • Experience managing significant sales pipelines.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen.

Preferred Technical Background

Experience in one or more of the following would be highly desirable:
