UK Sales Director for Government and Public Sector
Consumer behavior continues to evolve at a continually increasing pace. Understanding this behavior and resulting performance of CPG and Tech/Durable products is not only critical to retailers and manufacturers, but also to public policy setting organizations. When government agencies leverage the industry's best retail measurement and consumer intelligence data, they can adopt policies that are consistent with consumer behavior and most likely to succeed.
In the role of UK Sales Director for Government and Public Sector, you will be responsible for leading large, complex sales engagements across our portfolio of NielsenIQ measurement solutions to our existing and new UK government and public sector clients, with a secondary focus on non-profit and academic institutions. This role will pioneer the development of commercial strategies to renew and achieve new business, building meaningful client relationships, and ultimately winning large contracts and closing deals. The successful candidate will join an expanding global team of 6+ high performing and high energy associates. This fast-paced team is excited to have a new member join our group to build on the momentum we have established and deliver against lofty but attainable growth goals.
Responsibilities
- Leading sales of NielsenIQ's measurement solutions primarily to UK government and public sector agencies, with a secondary focus on non-profit and academic institutions
- Achieving sales and strategic objectives by clearly articulating NielsenIQ's value proposition and use cases to decision makers specific to the product portfolio of responsibility
- Building meaningful relationships with client stakeholders and teams
- Driving effective GTM strategy for Public Sector Tenders, Bid and Framework opportunities (>1M) and leading the Tender Teams to successful outcomes
- Identifying white space opportunities with our current and future clients
- Identifying best practice in key policy areas that are critical to the UK governmental client community to support build of NIQ Public Sector capability and credibility
- Representing the voice of the customer to internal product development, product marketing, communications and delivery teams
- Working collaboratively with other product sales leads & cross functional partners
- Achieving sales quota consistent with NielsenIQ margin goals and delivery expectations
- Generating sales leads and maintaining a best-practice pipeline of sales opportunities across a portfolio of government clients consistent with NielsenIQ's growth strategy
- Accurately forecasting the sales pipeline, areas of growth, areas of risk and prioritizing to close sales consistent with sales cycle norms
- Weaving client specific insights, industry material and thought leadership information into client conversations to build context and clarity to the outcomes our solutions can deliver
- Owning cross functional relationships and being a subject matter expert for your accounts and partners in a fast-paced environment

Requirements
- 10 yrs+ experience selling to public sector, national government and intergovernmental bodies is essential
- Proven experience in working on public procurement tenders, bids and frameworks
- 5+ years' experience selling data, analytics, or research-based solutions
- New business focused professional, experienced in working in both local and global teams and in connecting key internal stakeholders such as marketing, sales, finance and client service teams efforts to optimise opportunities for growth
- Experience in scoping and developing bids, proposals and negotiation strategies to close deals
- A proven expert in client relationship building, client delivery and successful new business pursuit at the £m++ level
- Proven record in achieving revenue and gross margin growth to deliver against targets
- Excellent sales pipeline management skills with a track record of predictability and consistency
- Track record in developing professional services innovation and adaptation to meet client need gaps, plus tracking best-practice
- Ability to effectively diagnose and remediate client satisfaction gaps in partnership with delivery teams
- Familiarity with HM Government commercial and spend rules
- Experience navigating multi-stakeholder public sector buying committees
- Exposure to think tank or academic research procurement is a plus, given it follows a different buying process than formal government tenders
- Familiarity with NielsenIQ data, tools, applications and platforms a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software

- The annual gross salary for this position ranges from GBP 52.400 to GBP 96.000. The final salary level will be determined based on relevant professional experience, qualifications, skills, and internal compensation structures. We are committed to pay transparency and equal opportunity and make compensation decisions solely on the basis of objective and gender-neutral criteria.
- In addition, this position may be eligible for an attractive variable compensation component with significant bonus potential, for example in the form of a performance-based or sales-related incentive bonus.
