Cingularity was acquired by IMG Media in September 2022 to provide the expertise to guide IMG’s evolution towards a fibre-based contribution and distribution model.

The Role

Cingularity is seeking a Sales Engineer with a broadcast background to join the team to pave the way during our development and expansion over the coming years. You will play a crucial part in Cingularity’s growth, ensuring the client uptake in Cingularity solutions. You will be actively involved from client engagement until project initiation. You will aid company growth and utilise your knowledge to shape customer solutions. As part of a small, agile team, this is a genuine opportunity to make an impact, take ownership, and influence the direction of a growing business.

Identifying the technical requirements and designing specific solutions for both event-based and permanent services for prospective and current customers will be your primary responsibility. You will work with your counterparts in the sales team and directly with various accounts, while engaging with Cingularity’s engineering and operations team to ensure success.

We’re open to candidates based anywhere in the UK. You’ll work remotely most of the time, with attendance at our London office approximately once per month, plus occasional additional visits for important meetings or team events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and design appropriate solutions in line with Cingularity's offerings by working with the customer, the sales team, and the engineering team to exceed customer expectations.
  • Develop revenue-generating solutions that align with customers' requirements and delivery timelines.
  • Grow and maintain healthy customer relationships, allowing you to gain a deeper understanding of the customer's business and allowing you to assist in their technology strategy.
  • Document solutions, including technical documentation, solution diagrams and drawings, used for both the end customer and internal teams.
  • Regular engagement with suppliers and vendors for proposals, quoting, and final bill of materials.
  • Be the technical point of contact for all technical questions, contribute to RFI/RFP responses, and assist with creating white papers.
  • Ensure the sales team is technically supported throughout the sales cycle while taking ownership of solution design.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Operations to ensure that all solutions are supportable.
  • Assist in solution and service project initiation to ensure success and assist with further documentation of bespoke customer solutions working alongside project management as required.
  • Maintain and develop your technical knowledge, enabling you to continually improve and innovate technical designs and solutions.
  • Provide the sales team with technical training, enabling them to be more effective.
  • Carry out presentations and hands-on demonstrations as required.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Strong proven experience as a Broadcast Engineer or similar, ideally educated to a degree level or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in designing solutions in one or more of the following technology domains:
    • Global Telecommunications
    • Video IP delivery and Data Transmission - Contribution and Distribution
    • Broadcast services, Sports, and Event Broadcasting
  • An excellent working knowledge of telecommunications service providers' products, technologies, markets, and business models.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with highly technical solutions, comprehend customer requirements, and document those requirements.
  • Expertise in video media processing (encoding/decoding) with a solid understanding of industry standard codecs, including MPEG, JPEG 2000, and JPEG XS.
  • Familiarity with transmission and monitoring equipment usage, including encoders, decoders, video routers, DAs, IP gateways, multiviewers, and transport stream monitoring.
  • Knowledge of the Net Insight portfolio, including experience on the MSR platform, is highly advantageous.
  • A working knowledge of Broadcast environments, workflows, and Broadcast IP technologies, including SMPTE standards, switching, routing, and multicast.
  • Knowledge of SRT (Secure Reliable Transport) delivery, including its use for low-latency video contribution and distribution over unmanaged IP networks.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Visio, Omnigraffle, or applications for solution design.
  • Experience in Office 365 or G-Suite, with excellent working knowledge of Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce or other CRM and opportunity-tracking software is advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn new tools and emerging technologies.
